Istanbul, September 2000

Fifty to sixty participants (men and women) attended this second meeting of the Forum, organised by Myriam Kerkhofs. After a brief welcome address, Irene Tobler gave a short report on the history and the constitution of the Forum. Invited speaker Joelle Adrien presented her talk on “Thirty years (20 awake, 10 asleep) in sleep research at the end of the 20th Century”. A debate was then initiated concerning the existence of such a Forum in our European society. Several participants expressed their opinion and a vote confirmed the pursuit of the Forum. It was proposed to constitute a network of interested participants in order to share information, eventual projects and other items of interest.
