Historical perspective of the society

The society was founded to support the development of sleep research and to facilitate the collaboration of different medical specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders (otolaryngologists, odontologists, neurologists, psychiatrists).

Important sleep physicians / researchers in the history of the NSS

Professor of neurology, DSc Vanda Liesiene developed basic sleep research models in animals and humans related to sleep and vegetative regulation.
