Glossary of Sleep-related terms


Two or more biological rhythms that have a 1:1 relation and maintain the same phase relationship. An example is the timing of sleep onset with respect to body temperature; sleep onset tends to occur at the same time of each temperature cycle, usually close to the minimum temperature.1
- State in which two or more oscillations have the same frequency due to mutual or unilateral influences (referring both to entrainment and to masking).2
